The Musical is a live retelling of the same romantic tale focused on Christian, an American writer, and Satine, the Moulin Rouge nightclub performer. Set in the Bohemian period during the late 19th century, Moulin Rouge! The Musical was heavily taken from French history. Some people are of the opinion that this decade were all about overindulgence and abuse of the rich. the Broadway play, however, chose to capture the era in a more endearing perspective by focusing on the good Bohemian values of truth, beauty, freedom, and love, as perceived through Christian and Satine’s evolving love story throughout the play.
