Synopsis

This is your chance to fall under the spell of Disney’s “tale as old as time” based on the Academy Award-winning movie. Stunning production numbers, including the cherished title song and “Be Our Guest,” will fill the Cadillac Palace Theatre, making your heart soar.

The celebrated fairy tale follows the story of Belle, a young woman in a rustic town, and the Beast, who is really a prince trapped under the wicked spell of an enchantress. She transformed the prince into a beast as punishment for his cruelty and selfishness. To break the spell, the Beast must learn to love and be loved before the last petal of the Enchanted Rose falls. But time is running out. If the Beast doesn’t learn his lesson soon, he and his charming household (Lumiere, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts, and Chip) will be doomed for all eternity.

Creative Team

The 2025 North American tour of Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST will boast a number of creatives from the original Tony Award®-winning artistic team. The celebrated creatives are reuniting to create the new show, including composer Alan Menken (who wrote the movie’s cherished score alongside the late lyricist Howard Ashman), lyricist Tim Rice, book writer Linda Woolverton, director and choreographer Matt West, scenic designer Stanley A. Meyer, costume designer Ann Hould-Ward, lighting designer Natasha Katz, as well as illusion designer Jim Steinmeyer.

The reimagined trek will also boast new dance music arrangements by David Chase, music supervision and arrangements by Michael Kosarin, orchestrations by Danny Troob, sound design by John Shivers, projection and video design by Darrel Maloney, and hair and makeup design by David H. Lawrence. Jason Trubitt will wear the hat of production supervisor, while Myriah Bash will take on the role of general manager and Anne Quart serve as executive producer.

“We are thrilled to have once again gathered this world-class creative team on Beauty and the Beast, under the masterful direction of original team member Matt West. Together they created a beloved show in 1994, and today they’re telling that story with all the charm and romance of the original production, and newly resonant for today’s audiences. It’s a pleasure to be back in the room with this peerless team as they re-discover and expand Beauty and the Beast,” said Anne Quart in a statement.

History and Awards

Based on Disney’s 1991 Academy Award-winning movie, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST premiered on Broadway on the 18th April 1994. The show closed on the 29th July 29 2007 after 46 previews and 5,461 regular critically acclaimed performances, making it the current tenth longest-running Broadway production of all time. The original show was nominated for as many as 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, winning the category for Best Costume Design.

Past Disney-produced North American tours of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST ran for nearly eight years from November 1995 until August 2003, for a combined total of 2,893 performances to over 5.7 million spectators. The production is currently touring in Australia. Recently, Disney Theatrical Group announced that a reimagined production of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST will embark on a North American tour from June 2025, beginning with technical rehearsals in Schenectady, New York. Review

“Redirected by the show’s original choreographer Matt West, this reworked version of the show – which has music by Alen Menken and lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice – looks astounding thanks to the still-stunning design by Stanley A Meyer and illusions from Jim Steinmeyer… Genuinely, it is one of the most visually impressive shows I’ve ever seen” – Timeout
