“The DeLorean brings all of the magic” – Entertainment Weekly
The mighty Delorean takes centerstage on this brilliant epic. The eccentric but genius Doc Brown turned an old sports car into a souped up and steaming time machine. The Delorean needs to travel 88 miles per hour to be able to activate the flux capacitor and finally travel through time. Marty McFly from 1985 accidentally activates the Delorean and travels back into 1955. As he explores his town during this period, he causes a chain of events that will change his future, including a threat to his existence! Back to the Future the musical originally opened in London’s West End in 2021. Screenwriter Bob Gale who originally wrote the Back to the Future trilogy brought this pop culture epic from film to the big stage. Spearheading this stage adaptation, Bob Gale continues his dynamic storytelling by keeping audiences at the edge of their seat. This time, the story includes a thrilling score with music by Robert Zemeckis and lyrics by Gale himself. In 2023, Back to the Future the Musical finally made it to Broadway and opened in the summer. The production was lauded for its trailblazing effects from making the Delorean fly across the theater and above audiences. The production surely brought out all the stops on this one by securing some of the biggest and most talented names in Broadway and West End. For starters, the stellar creative team was led by Tony and Outer Critics Circle Award-winning director John Rando. Meanwhile, Tony and Olivier Award winning scenic designer Tim Hately was tasked to bring the magic of the film into the big stage. The musical was also highly praised for its astounding choreography – with Tony and Olivier Award winning choreographer Hugh Vanstone, it’s totally not a mystery why.
