That episode led to the creation of The Book Of Mormon from the creators of the Comedy Central hit, and for more than a decade, it's been entertaining audiences with big laughs and memorable songs like "I Believe" and "Turn It Off." Now you have a chance to see this performance live in Chicago, Illinois at Cadillac Palace Theatre on Saturday 24th October 2026.
There's no question that The Book Of Mormon is the most unapologetic and irreverent show to hit Broadway, arguably ever. The 9-time Tony Award winner (including Best Musical) became an instant phenomenon when it premiered on Broadway in 2011. Ironically, Trey Parker and Matt Stone wanted to create musicals long before they created the beloved community of South Park, Colorado, eventually teaming up with Robert Lopez to bring this outrageous story to life. From the moment that people read "From the creators of South Park", they have a certain expectation about what they're going to see on stage. Yes, to be fair, if you look carefully, you'll recognize that signature style. However, this is a performance that's touring after its Broadway debut more than 15 years ago. That speaks to the fact that The Book Of Mormon is an actual musical that theater buffs have come to know and love. The 9-time Tony Award winner, including Best Musical, is coming to Chicago as part of Broadway in Chicago's season. Saturday 24th October 2026 marks your chance to see what the excitement is about, with performances at 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM.
If you think that this is just a performance that Trey Parker and Matt Stone (along with Robert Lopez) designed solely to criticize religion, you're in for something more layered. Not to throw too many spoilers your way, but, the story runs on this sense of naivety from the characters - Elder Price, Elder Cunningham, and Nabulungi - but they are growing in understanding throughout the story. It makes them engaging, and it's a big reason audiences keep returning when The Book of Mormon is playing. As with any musical, some of these songs also keep the energy high from start to finish. When it's all wrapped up, you might have a "What did I just watch" feeling, but you'll know you've had a blast as the strong ensemble keep you watching closely from start to finish throughout the approximately 2 hour 35 minute runtime.
When going to a show, finding the right seats to have a perfect view of the action on stage is key to enjoying the show. Broadway rules truly apply here! That means you're going to want to look for a spot near the center section. The historic Cadillac Palace Theatre offers Orchestra, Mezzanine, and Balcony seating levels. Also, think twice before sitting in the very front. That's not where you're going to have the "best" views of the performance. On the contrary, you're going to be too close to take in the full stage.
