It’s been 30 years since the original Riverdance took the stage at the interval of the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest at the Point Theatre in Dublin, broadcast to over 300 million viewers worldwide. Turning traditional Irish dance from a reserved traditional dance form into a new, exciting modern dance, backed by Bill Whelan’s exquisite score, the world hungrily gobbled up the new dance phenomenon, leading to countless sold-out performances.

The full-fledged stage production, initiated by producers John McColgan and Moya Doherty, opened its debut, ‘Riverdance: The Show’, featuring the iconic dancers Michael Flatley and Jean Butler, in 1995 at the Point Theatre, selling out its five-week run within three days of ticket sales opening. Now, three decades later, the Riverdance troupe is welcoming a new generation of performers, all of whom were not born at the time the show was conceived.
