The 2001 Baz Luhrmann film, Moulin Rouge earned nominations at the 74th Academy Awards and grossed nearly $180 million worldwide. This instant hit musical film about romance and misfortune stayed relevant and is now a hit Broadway show performed worldwide. The Broadway show had a long and rocky start since there were merely whispers of a Broadway adaptation in 2002 and 2006. But in 2016, it was finally announced that this glamorous film would hit the stage.
