The Phantom of the Opera tells the story of a deformed composor who haunts a grand Opera House and watches performances and audiences. “True beauty lies not upon gilded veneers, but found in the sound within” come and listen to the true beauty of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, don’t miss out on this show at Cadillac Palace Theatre. The Opera Ghost, Derrick Davis in the role of The Phantom, as the locals of Paris have come to call him, haunts the caves beneath the Paris Opera house, bringing tragedy to the performances above by sabotaging and nearly killing the lead actress. Until, he discovers the young soprano (Emma Grimsley in the role of) Christine Daaé, “softly, deeply, music shall caress you. Hear it, feel it, secretly possess you.” Falling in love with her and tutoring her to become a magnificent lead. However, the young Christine has fallen in love with another, the handsome noble Jordan Craig in the role of Raoul, Vicomte de Chagny. The Phantom, behest to the loss of his love, kidnaps Christine! “If I am the Phantom, it is because man’s hatred has made me so. If I am to be saved it is because your love redeems me!” Unaware of the lengths Raoul is prepared to go to get her back… Now, will Christine ask everything of Raoul or listen to the Music of the Night?

Andrew Lloyd Webber is undoubtedly one of the best, if not the most well known, musical theatre composer of all time. With 13 musicals under his belt and numerous awards, his songs are legendary. The Phantom of The Opera has one of the most memorable songs on the musical circuits with classics like ‘The Phantom of the Opera’, ‘The Music of the Night’ and ‘Angel of Music’ to serenade you for the evening. Andrew Lloyd Webbers’ most famous and iconic musical is the most successful in the entertainment industry. Playing to over 145 million people in 150 cities across 30 countries, this longest-running show on Broadway has won over 70 major awards. Celebrated its 30th year anniversary in 2018. The Phantom of the Opera featuring brilliant new scenic design by Paul Brown, Tony Award-winning original costume design by Maria Björnson, lighting design by Tony Award winner Paule Constable, new choreography by Scott Ambler, new staging by director Laurence Connor, and the now legendary chandelier! A cast and orchestra of 52 makes this one of the largest Phantom of the Opera productions now on tour! Cameron Mackintosh has so far produced the three longest running musicals in history Les Misérables, The Phantom of the Opera and CATS. Cameron was knighted in 1996; recently was the first British producer to be elected to the Theater Hall of Fame; and is the recipient of the 2017 Stephen Sondheim Award.

“Phantom” may be the riskiest reboot. Even Mackintosh regards the dark, shiny fable of the tortured, disfigured Phantom and the sweet soprano Christine as “the most beautiful of my big shows.” The new version is deliberately more prosaic. “It’s more realistic in many ways,” Mackintosh says, drawing a comparison to the well-known set and costume design by Maria Bjornson, who died in 2002. “The original doesn’t attempt theatrical realism.”

“There is a realer sense of a backstage, of a theater world,” says new “Phantom” scenic designer Paul Brown, whose career has been mainly in the opera realm. “The glamour is only makeup deep.”

“Well, you start with a story that reeks of sexuality, mystery, innocence and passion. Then you add music that weaves motif after motif together in a manner that even a tone deaf person could grasp. Add impeccable design – 19th century costumes and a set that is so enormous it dwarfs the cast and so spectacular that you can hardly keep track of where you are. Top it off with staging that is actor proof and voila!”
– Tulis McCall, New York Theatre Guide.com

“So rare is a show that can run fundamentally unaltered for 26 years, bringing in global audiences galore, that this touring production of still-going Broadway megahit “The Phantom of the Opera,” with a new set and staging, is big news, despite introducing almost no significant change. Overall, this cautious but often clever redux by director Laurence Connor — who also helmed the new version of “Les Miserables” on its way to Broadway — provides a subtly refreshed but not re-imagined “Phantom,” with a new design and new choreography, a younger-than-usual title character and a tendency toward realism rather than parodic buffoonery by the supporting players.”
